Why goods receipt still runs on paper
Every supplier sends its own delivery note, often crumpled and signed at the dock. Warehouse teams count each line, key the quantities into the ERP and file the paper for AP.
Goods arrive
Delivery note handed over at the dock.
Line count
Each line counted against the paper.
Friction
Short shipments slip through.
Manual keying
Received quantities typed into the ERP.
Friction
Typos create phantom stock.
Invoice match
Delivery checked against PO and invoice.
Friction
Invoices blocked on missing receipts.
Goods received
Finally booked, one delivery note at a time.

Ready to post, not just to read.
Fields come from a data schema you define in minutes. Dates come back in ISO 8601, quantities as numbers, each field with a confidence score.
Built for the loading dock, not the scanner room
Crumpled carbon copies, quantities corrected by hand, stamps over the line table, photos taken on a pallet. The model reads every line and flags what it is unsure of.

Any supplier, any delivery note
Every supplier formats its delivery notes and packing slips differently. They come back in one schema you define, with no template per supplier.

Ordered vs delivered, line by line
Each line returns quantity ordered and quantity delivered, so partial deliveries and backorders show up the moment the goods arrive.

Ready for three-way matching
PO number, SKUs and quantities come back as data, so the purchase order, delivery note and invoice can be matched before you pay.

Sorted from mixed paperwork
Delivery notes often arrive stapled to invoices and packing lists. Mindee classifies each document, so only delivery notes reach goods receipt.

Excellent. In addition to their great product, the sales team has always been proactive on how they could help us leverage the maximum results from their product. It was like having an additional product manager on our side

FAQ about Mindee's Delivery Note OCR API
Can't find what you're looking for? Our team answers within one business day.
What is a delivery note (or packing slip)?
A delivery note, called a packing slip in the US and a delivery docket in Australia, is the document that travels with a shipment and lists what it contains. It is issued by the supplier and usually shows the delivery note number, the related order or purchase order number, the supplier and customer details, the delivery address and date, and each item delivered with its reference, description and quantity. Unlike an invoice, it doesn’t usually show prices. Mindee extracts all these fields, including every line item, and returns them as structured JSON for your ERP or warehouse management system.
Is a delivery note the same as a packing list?
Not exactly. A delivery note (or packing slip) is a commercial document for the recipient: it lists the items and quantities in the delivery so they can be checked on arrival. A packing list is mainly a shipping document. Used in international trade and freight, it details how the goods are packed, with the number of packages, their content, weights and dimensions, for carriers and customs. In practice, some suppliers combine the two. Mindee recognizes both types of documents and extracts the relevant fields from each.
How do delivery notes help automate goods receipt?
When goods arrive, the warehouse checks the delivery against the purchase order and records what was actually received, usually in a goods received note. Done manually, this means retyping every line of the delivery note. With Mindee, the delivery note is photographed or scanned at reception, its line items are extracted and compared automatically with the purchase order, and shortages, surplus items or unexpected references are flagged immediately. The goods receipt is then recorded in your ERP in seconds and can be used for three-way matching when the invoice arrives.
Can Mindee extract batch numbers, serial numbers and expiry dates?
Yes. In industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, healthcare and manufacturing, delivery notes often include batch or lot numbers, serial numbers and expiry dates for each item, and these details must be recorded for traceability and recalls. Mindee extracts them line by line, together with the item reference and quantity, even on long, multi-page delivery notes. Your teams no longer need to copy these codes by hand, which is slow and a frequent source of errors, and your stock records stay accurate from the moment goods arrive.
About Mindee
Is my data secured and protected during the conversion process?
Yes, your data is highly secured and protected during the entire conversion process. As an enterprise-grade OCR solution, Mindee takes data privacy very seriously. Here are the key security measures in place:
- Certified compliance: Mindee's infrastructure is SOC 2 Type II certified and fully GDPR compliant, ensuring strict industry standards for data protection.
- Encryption: All documents and extracted data are fully encrypted both in transit (during the API call) and at rest.
- Data localization: You have control over where your data is processed, with the option to host and process your data on either EU or US servers.
- Strict privacy: Mindee respects data confidentiality. Your processed documents are not shared with third parties, and your private data is not used to train global AI models.
In short, your sensitive documents are processed in a secure, isolated environment and remain completely under your control.
Is Mindee's OCR API free to use?
We provide a 14 days free trial so you can fully test any of our OCR models — no credit card required. After this, we offer different pricing tiers depending of the volume of pages processed and the features you might need. See the pricing page for more information.
What file formats are supported for JSON conversion?
The supported document formats are:
- PDF (
application/pdf) – While technically a document format rather than an image, it is natively supported for all extraction models. - JPEG / JPG (
image/jpeg) - PNG (
image/png) – Must be non-animated. - WebP (
image/webp) - TIFF / TIF (
image/tiff) – Both single-page and multi-page TIFFs are supported and processed similarly to PDFs. - HEIC (
image/heic) – Apple's High-Efficiency Image Container format.
📌 Important technical limitations to keep in mind:
To ensure the OCR pipeline runs smoothly and successfully returns your JSON, make sure your files adhere to the following constraints:
- Maximum file size: 100 MB per file.
- Maximum page count: Up to 200 pages per document.
- File state: The files cannot be encrypted, and PDFs must not be password-protected.
